Flash forward?

Few people know how much I love watching television. If there are two things I wish I could get paid to do, that would be reading and watching TV (mainly series). One of my favorite — and new TV series is FlashForward.

What would you do if you were walking down the street and all of a sudden you simply pass out, then you wake up, 2 minutes 17 seconds later, not knowing what happened? That’s not all. During those 2 minutes 17 seconds you have a sort of dream of a specific moment of a specific day in the future, in which you’re doing or hearing something, maybe in company of someone you may or may not know. Keep in mind that this flash forward could be something either amazingly good or amazingly bad; maybe you saw nothing (this means you’ll be dead that day).

Every single human being had a flash forward at the exact same moment and whatever they saw (or not) would happen on the same day. Imagine the chaos and hysteria worldwide; people obsessed with what they saw or didn’t see and others wondering how or what caused the blackout. Obviously many people (hundreds of thousands) around the world die during the blackout, due to all sorts of accidents; however, in some cases, this isn’t the main priority.

Sometimes we dwell on wondering what the future has in store for us. Taking into consideration this storyline, would it be worth getting a glimpse of the future? Why are humans so obsessed  with the future? Shouldn’t we learn from out past, live our present, and worry about the future whenever it comes? If we knew what would happen in the future, wouldn’t we waste our time trying to change it if we don’t like what’s ahead? We need to: Learn from the past. Do things right in the present. Look forward to whatever the future holds.

It is a local business owned by three young men and friends amongst themselves: Carlos, Juan Carlos, and Agustín. Right to Die?

Posted in Ingl 3231 by Priscilla Hernández on March 9, 2010

Earlier last week, some time during the night, I was flipping through channels and I ended up on 3-02, PBS. There was really nothing else on, so I left it there to see what was showing. The program had already started, so I missed out on some details. I later found out that I was watching the documentary Right to Die? based on Craig Colby Ewert’s last four alive.

It’s homosexual or gay, not pato

Last week there were several conferences, which were a part of the event called Del Otro la’o.  This activity was held from March 2nd to March 4th 2010 at the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus; and its motive is to bring awareness to issues involving the LGBT community. I wasn’t able to assist, but I still wanted to dedicate a blog entry to what I consider is an important subject nowadays.
